THIS SITE HAS MOVED! [GETOUTTAHERE!!]

Over the past year, for many of you steady-burn.blogspot.com has been a bastion of hope in a cruel, cruel, brutally unfeeling World. (... my definition of many might be jaded, and unrealistic)

But, like those who have gone before me, I'm moving on. My new address is the ultra-slick STEADYBURN.NET
Hats off to the crack web development team of Jeff (Buzz My Blog, Buzz Pirates) and Bryan (GrandmasterB) on the new site design. Those guys did a bang-up job. And special thanks to Mike Cuz (Cuzoogle) for making the connect.

As has been the trend in this fledgling economy, I sold this blogger domain at a significantly reduced rate, to this kid...

When young Bruce "ballbuster" Mackallaster (pictured above) reaches the age of majority, expect updates here from him...

NOW, Go check out my first update to the new, improved Steady Burn on, what else, but some of Roller Derby's finest!

Toss the Burner: May 15, 2007

Up until about 1 p.m. I was having a complete bogey of a day...because I decided to go to the DMV this morning...because I'm a schmuck.

Then, I received an early birthday package from my good pal Hillary at Fitness Magazine, which included:

After pummeling Stallion for a while, I was good. Before that though, I was livid. The DMV wouldn't let me exchange my Connecticut license for a New York one because I didn't have with me proof of birth. Because w/o a birth certificate or passport in hand, you're presumed to be a hologram in the eyes of these dingos who work there. Proof of birth? OK, fine. Pinch me, rock me in the face if you want...in fact, why don't you call my mom and let her tell you what a bastard I was at age 15, I'm real dammit!

So now I've got the old man spending eight bucks to overnight me a birth certificate. Hard earned money he could spend on that Corona light he seems to enjoy so much...oh, and I get to go back to the DMV tomorrow...which is my actual birthday!

With this current sad state of affairs I'm dealing with over here, I decided to post links to what I perceived as the worst stuff going on around the sports blogosphere today:

Check out Busted Coverage to see the evil idea brought forth by the menace J Koot. And be on the lookout over there for my personal birthday message to a certain EA.

(Been a while since I threw up some) Inspired Thoughts:

"...the punk kid asked me if i wanted a "new" camera, as if i was going to say, "nah, its cool, gimme a used one, i dont care...", i walked out of the store before he could even put a period on the end of his sentence."

said, C. Bley, regarding a trip to Circus City last night to purchase a digital camera.

More posts later...maybe a tribute to Wes Snipes (doing a three year bid)...maybe some Patriot Draft Day recommendations. Should be time for both.

A great interview by a great blogger - Zach at The Big Picture talks to the dastardly Christmas Ape, post-firing from the Washington Post.

Good to know he's still thriving. Also, I'm intrigued to hear more about the deal that Kissing Suzy Kolber inked. Like my man French says, this is America...either you make more money, or you're a f#$king douche bag.

I'm happy for them. KSK is my favorite blog, hands down. And they are unbridled in their dismantling of New England sports fans.

Speaking of which...Jodie at Gossip on Sports uncovered Darren McFadden's Yardbarker blog about his visit to the New England Patriots:

I went to New England last week and I loved their facility and their stadium. They are doing a lot of construction around it. They are building a mall and a hospital right there. If I get a chance to play there I will never have to leave (!!!). They said much of the building they are doing will keep all the noise in the stadium so game days will be especially loud. They are already great at home, that will just give them another advantage.

I really enjoyed meeting Coach Belichick. He told me about their team and their system and what they would expect of me. They are always looking for playmakers and that's what I am. I sat down with most of the offensive coaching staff and watched film. They also introduced me to Kevin Faulk. He's impressive, the way he studies, how he trains and how he carries himself. If I can duplicate the way he prepares I'll be doing just fine.

Forget what he says here. He would love to play in New England - fantastic, who wouldn't? Look at the tone, the sentence structure...it's rosy as hell!

There is no way this guy wrote that. Unless D-Mac is actually Kenneth the Page from 30 Rock.

Yardbarker, I'm on to you.

It's like 80 degrees outside, let's get out there and see some skirts!

Nope, gotta work. Guffaw.

I can't wait to run for Pope of this dump on the four-day work week platform.

You ask me to debate foreign policy, and I'll ask you to use foreign policy in a sentence. Universal health care, sounds tough. Nope, all we need is the four day work week...or at least maybe siestas.

President Curly, sounds pretty dastardly doesn't it?

.......

So, Midge Tejada is actually a mischievous two years older than he's been claiming. The first sentence from the mlb.com report is priceless:

PHILADELPHIA -- Miguel Tejada just aged two years.

...and so is the spin by Astros general manager Ed Wade:

"In the course of media interviews, it was brought to our attention that the date we carry for Tejada, the year of birth, is incorrect," Wade said. "His green card, his driver's license, everything that he uses personally shows '74 as his date of birth. In the media guide, that type of information shows '76. We told Miguel we were going to go ahead and make the appropriate changes and all the information was put forward. But the fact of the matter is he's playing like he was 25."

So, this whole charade, it was merely a typo in the media guide? Or was it more of a typo in the media guide propagated by a decade long lie?

All this really means is that Tejada will stop striking fear into me every time he comes to the plate probably in 2014 instead of 2016.

The twelfth season of South Park has been oh so sweet, and yet another fresh episode airs tonight.

If you're kind of a big deal like myself and can't always be around at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, check out ALLSP where you can watch every single episode (beautiful) ever created.

Here's a musical moment from the show's past, I can't remember laughing harder during South Park then the first time I saw this...

Concerning YouTube...The Today Show has been covering this story about the 16-year old girl who was beaten up on camera by a bunch of her supposed girlfriends.

The she-thugs then put the video on YouTube...shocking.

This morning, The Today Show put together a panel to discuss how awful this whole thing is, and the disturbing trend in kids posting violent video in search of their "15 MBs (clever?) of fame."

Interestingly enough, on YouTube's most viewed today page a news video of the beating loaded by user AssociatedPress has 226,065 views...today.

So, we've got trusted, reputable media source The Today Show condemning kids for doing this with violent videos, and trusted, reputable media source The Associated Press...What? Fueling the fire?

In their defense, AssociatedPress has removed the video.

...and some of my favorite (at least by name) YT users who have picked up the slack in posting these girls' story include CuddlyNutBear, SockPuppetry101, and JUMPTHECOOCH.

An emerging voice of reason in this whole sordid affair...a YouTube comment posted 12 seconds ago:

WHAT THE F#$% IS THIS SH*T!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those girls should be punished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don't do that to some one just because you have a disagreement or she said something to offend you. COME ON PEOPLE THIS IS F#$%ED.

Memphis collapsed.

Remember when Paul Shaffer (Artie Fufkin) demands that Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer kick his ass in This Is Spinal Tap?

Great part of the film. Kind of how you could sum up the last few minutes of last night's game.

I'm not askin...I'm telling you to kick my ass

John Calipari and his team could not be reached to comment on what exactly went wrong at the end of game. However, long time Memphis fan (and a solid representative of the demo of the team's fan base) Cletus the slack-jaw yokel had this to say...
I can't possibly think of anything else that could've gone wrong.

Most importantly, we can now move on to strictly baseball season.

After an 18-day, tri-country, du-continent road trip the BoSox open up at home today against the winless-less team in baseball the 0-6 Detroit Tigers. The Sox kick off a 20 game in 20 day stint.

A savage road trip, then 20 games in a row. Is MLB giving them June off or something?

Rain in the Bronx today.

All the Yankee fans who wasted a vacation day to go to the game, I truly feel for you.

Just to be abundantly clear, my baseball season started (a week before yours, last Tuesday) in a bar at 6 a.m. drinking bloody marys, eating pancakes, and sucking down 4,000 milligrams of caffeinated coffee. Not to mention, the game went into extra innings. Always awesome.

...and yours started with rain out, a post-gosh darn-ponement.

I win, and don't forget that your (damp) Jeter jersey is dry clean only.

And no, I have no idea who Aiden is, but they better be intolerable speed metal, or else.

The C's snap the Rockets 22-game win streak, and improve their own winning streak to 10.

Early on in the action - the 12:00 minute mark of the first quarter - Rajon Rondo and Rafer Alston had themselves a little scrap.

The Does Paul Pierce have to choak a bitch look is a nice touch.

Houston put up 74 points in the losing effort, and here is a list of the NIT teams that outscored them last night:

Syracuse - 87
Butler - 84
UMASS - 80
Robert Morris - 81

Later on, I'm going liveblog an hour of my IPOD on shuffle; I'm that sickeningly good at my job that I can afford to do this kind of nonsense.

I've got somewhere in the range of 5,000 songs, and to be honest there is some creepy, creepy shit on there. Should be an interesting mix.

(She doesn't look that pissed)

What have we learned this week folks? I for one reaffirmed my belief that what happens in or to people from, living or around Albany should stay in Albany. Nothing good happens when you associate yourself with Albany.

People aren't exactly ignoring this notion, but nobody has come right out and said it. This very incident may have just won Obama the nomination. At the very least it provides his campaign with a new, unforeseeable angle to attack Hillary.

Say that Silda Spitzer decides to stick by Eliot, and those with the wherewithal continue to berate her for doing so. People are already all over her for standing by his side during his resignation, and the whole time she was giving him a look that said: I'm going to go home and break everything that you own. Or say she decides to dump his ass...say she decides to divorce him on the night before the Pennsylvania primary...remember when Hillary handled her business this way? Of course, you don't. Why would you.

In my opinion, someone who buys ink by the barrel, draws a parallel here. I'd admit that I'm reaching a little bit here...except didn't Mrs. Spitzer call Mrs. Clinton about advice on being a good first lady a while back?

Obama on Spitzer:

"Obviously, it’s a tragedy. It’s heartbreaking for the family, but I suspect that it would not have been possible to function as governor, that what he said is right, that he needs to spend time healing himself and his family." Asked in a follow-up question whether Spitzer should be prosecuted, he replied: "You know, I won't offer an opinion on that." (via MSNBC.com)

When asked what this meant for his campaign in the short term, Obama replied:

"Who get drunk at night till the early morn'? Tap dances at the party like it's goin on..." (via Ol' Dirty Bastard)

Still gotta do my Wire post...didn't happen yesterday (I guess that's what you get when you follow up an epic series finale with a few hours of subsequent Bud-Proper drinking and a week's DVR worth of Jeopardy re-runs).

Watching multiple Jeopardies on DVR has shown me just how inefficient my day-to-day truly is. When you eliminate the commercials and the spirit-crippling Trebeck interviews with the contestants you can knock those babies out real quick.

Found this blog by way of Jodie's Gossip on Sports, and it moved me to goof off with Nike ID a little. I'll tell you what, you can come up with some real Mickey Mouse sneaker designs on that site...

Determined to give my one-day late reaction of The Wire today. Wanted to first finish reading Alan Sepinwall's take on the final episode (it's bulky), and I also hear that this interview with Michael K. Williams (Omar) is not to be missed.

Inspired Thoughts:

I need to post a retraction from previous post where I alluded that the season for the mighty Fordham Rams would end without an A-10 tourney appearance. Apparently, they've weaseled their way in as the final seed (#12). Fordham takes on St. Joe's on Thursday, March 13th at 2:30 p.m. EST from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Moved into the new office in Soho. Got the top floor with roof access. Thinking about investing in a golf net and a redneck hot tub

The Wire series finale was bonkers. Nice chunky post coming later. Here's the New York Times take on the finale.
