WWE's Mickie James on Psych

Hell on wheels hits cable tonight, as this week's episode of Psych features show star Maggie Lawson and WWE Diva Mickie James playing roller girls.

The apropos titled ep Talk Derby to Me also features a couple of the L.A. Derby Dolls, and had the Vancouver Derby squad on-set to consult on the action.

In a recent interview, James told TheDeadbolt.com,

I have a newfound respect for [derby girls] because, like I said before, the Vancouver roller-derby team was there with us showing us different stuff...I didn’t realize that they were as tough and that; they get out there and they pretty much beat each other up a little bit. I respect that being an athlete myself and getting beat up and beating people up all of the time.

Yeah, she's crazy. Love it.

All I cared to know about Psych before this was that Dorn is on it. But I can't pass up roller derby's first return to the small screen since Charlie's Angels! I'll tivo. Look for my reaction on twitter around 10 a.m. tomorrow, while I'm enjoying this with a bloody mary and a breakfast of bacon.

The new episode of Pysch premieres tonight on USA at 10 p.m. ET.

Toss the Burner: Monday, March 3

Those in the know I'm sure realized where the inspiration for my Toss the Burner posts originated from almost instantly.

Next Sunday brings us to the end of a yet another TV era when The Wire series finale airs.

I love this show so much. It's the greatest show on concrete - underdeveloped, crack vile laden, animalistic concrete. It even moved me to read an NYT article about some Bush administration gobbledeegook this morning.

My prediction for the finale, the bad guys are going to win. Though who that means exactly depends on your perspective.

I'm not even going to throw out any sort of substantial prediction. One of the things I like about this show is that I'm always wrong. No scheme I ever cooked up for The Wire ever happened, ever.

The curveballs never cease to end with this show. For instance, HBO has been putting each episode On Demand a week early throughout the season. Yet, apparently they're putting the kabbash on that for the Series Finale.

Geoff Young, mastermind behind San Diego Padres blog Ducksnorts, sent me this pic yesterday. It's from when he brought his loyal brood of readers to a Padres game. Blogger Ballpark love. Love it.

You know you're in trouble when you stumble upon this headline: CBS gives thumbs up for more reality shows...and there is a picture of Jamie Kennedy sitting right there. Anxiety level, skyrocketing.

"Once upon a time, in the 1960's, the TV landscape was rife with westerns...."

It. Gets. Better.

"Today, CBS reported two new reality programs in development. Splitsville, which was previously announced, is now going into production. The marital-based series, which comic Jamie Kennedy is executive producing, is not about happy unions."

I'm very much looking forward to hating this band intensely. Right now, I gotta say, it's not bad. (They're already in GQ. Christ).

Saturday afternoon debauchery might derail seeing Tennessee/Memphis tomorrow night. Stiles Points breaks down what people are saying about this game nicely.

Historically, I've given Memphis almost no credit for anything they've done. A sort of Ted Kennedy of college basketball perhaps. However, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Derrick Rose, those guys are something else. I'm taking Memphis, which is a hell of a town by the way.
